extremely right, marisse, thanks for your help to me personally and to those people reached by your contributions ...i can say that you are in the position to help others help themselves...thanks for this article, i have read it before, i will read it once more, there is one battle here in our country, the battle against poverty....inside out, this is my personal experience, too. maybe through our group, ANS 1975 batch, we can make a difference from bonding and reuniting to a helping hand group to our not-so-lucky batchmates and their families, so many of them, myself included, so let's forged resources, one at a tym, we can build together, a kind of ANS 1975 BATCH FOUNDATION, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that helps and extends assistance to members and their families. So, maybe we can start our own small projects from members' contributions then later we will apply for funding assistance from other sources where we can target our batchmates and their families.

I love this article and I totally agree with it. I feel your frustration regarding Filipino attitude towards wealth, work and discipline.I am an exception though.
I am a Filipino-American in New York, but I am not poor anymore because I was able to shed off the wrong attitude about work and wealth.
I invest my funds wisely, watch it grow and want more so I could help more people besides my family in the Philippines. I will continue to work because there is nothing better to do than to work, as my husband says, "I'd rather be aggravated than be bored." ( He is an American.) We take vacations every 6 months. And mind you, we can afford to retire comfortably even tomorrow!
I wish all Filipinos will learn the value of discipline and investing and throw away religious beliefs about money, so that the Phil will no longer be poor.
